About us

MWE started as a commercial, industrial, traffic signal and street light maintenance contractor, providing services on a routine and emergency basis.  MWE has maintenance agreements with local municipalities in Northwest Indiana, which have been modified and updated and are used by the Indiana Department of Transportation.  MWE currently provides traffic signal maintenance throughout Northwest Indiana, and to Central Indiana through its Indianapolis office.  MWE is the lighting maintenance contractor for the majority of Indiana DOT districts working throughout the State.  MWE has also worked for one of the largest suppliers of electricity in the State of Indiana.  MWE supplied the utility with maintenance, repair, and new installation of lighting systems for their entire service area. 

KEY PERSONNEL

ALLEN BRODBECK
President

As President of Midwestern Electric, Al is responsible for all aspects of the
Company's operations. Al has forty years of construction industry experience in
diversified fields, including: environmental services, utility and infrastructure, and
general contracting.

Prior to joining Midwestern Electric, Inc., Al served as Vice President of
Continental Waste Industries, Inc., a publicly traded solid waste company (CWI-
NASDAQ). At CWI, Al's responsibilities included managing all major construction
projects in thirteen US states and Latin America.

Al began his construction career at Western Electric Company in Illinois,
supervising complex telecommunication and power upgrades for Illinois
Bell Telephone Company and AT&T. At Walsh Construction, Al supervised
major construction activities at the LaSalle County Nuclear Power Plant for
Commonwealth Edison Company.

THOMAS A. VOLINI
Vice President

As Vice President, Tom is responsible for business development and fiscal
management. Tom has been engaged in construction and environmental
services businesses for over forty years. He has been employed in government
service, real estate development, and the formation and operation of several
firms engaged in the regulated utilities industry and others managing solid waste,
domestically and abroad.

While maintaining his position as Vice President of Midwestern Electric, Inc.,
Tom divides his time assisting in the management of other business interests, in
the solid waste and recycling industries.

Tom earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a law
degree from Loyola University, Chicago.

LENORE OBAJTEK
Controller

As Controller of Midwestern Electric, Lenore is responsible for managing
Midwestern's overall financial strategy. Lenore's responsibilities include financial
analysis, cost control, risk management, IT and audits. Lenore has been
with Midwestern Electric for 15 years and has over 25 years of accounting
experience.

Prior to Midwestern, Lenore worked in the legal field as the Business Manager
for Jeffrey Goldberg & Associates. She also worked as an Accounting Supervisor
at Price Waterhouse Tax Technology Group in Chicago as well as serving as the
Business Manager for WUSN Radio (US 99) for ten years.

Lenore received an Associate's degree from Roosevelt University, holds a 1st Class FCC Engineering License, served as a member of the Chicago Credit & Collection Association as well as serving on the Board of Directors for Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois.   

DEAN BALAZS
Chief Estimator

Dean has been in the electrical construction business for over forty years. He has been the Chief Estimator in the Indianapolis Office for the past twenty-five years. Dean's experience has included estimating over 400 projects, ranging from traffic signal and highway lighting installation, to advanced traffic management systems. Dean manages all traffic signal and lighting maintenance contracts with
the State and municipalities across Central and Southern Indiana. 

RAYMOND B. RUSSELL
General Manager

As General Manager at the Company's East Chicago office, Raymond is
responsible for administering all construction and maintenance contracts and
managing day to day operations. Raymond's expertise in planning and executing
contracts, allows for projects with superior quality control, delivery, and efficiency.
Raymond is experienced in industrial electrical applications, power and controls,
as well as construction and operation of roadway lighting and traffic signal
systems. His construction and industrial backgrounds have been enhanced
by his time spent in Europe working for companies like Siemens, M.A.N, and
Carrilion.

Raymond studied Business at Carlow R.T.C., Ireland. He holds three IMSA
certificates, including: Level I and Level II Traffic Signal Technician & Work
Zone Safety. He is currently enrolled at Purdue University, Calumet where he is
studying Construction Management.

RYAN RENTSCHLER
Senior Project Manager

Ryan is responsible for managing all commercial and industrial projects for
Midwestern Electric. Ryan has been in the electrical construction business for
over ten years, having completed his apprenticeship as a Journeyman Inside
Wireman at LU 697. Presently, Ryan's responsibilities include estimating, and the
installation and maintenance of major commercial, industrial and governmental
projects. Ryan's experience and training allows for the design, estimating,
and management of: power and control, emergency systems, data and fire
suppression projects.

Ryan received an Associates Degree in Industrial Electronics and Supervision and Management Training from Ivy Tech State College. 

PAUL ANDERSON
Estimator

Paul is responsible for estimating projects for Midwestern's commercial and industrial divisions. Paul has been in the electrical construction business forover 30 years.  Paul utilizes a wealth of field experience and training knowledge to estimate projects. He is a Journeyman Wireman and a member of LU 697.

In addition to his work at Midwestern, Paul serves as an electrical inspector for the Town of Merrillville, Indiana and an adjunct instructor at Ivy Tech Community College where he teaches electrical theory and application.

Paul received a Bachelor's degree in Career and Technical Education from
Indiana State University and an Associates degree in Applied Science in
Apprenticeship Technology: Electrician from Ivy Tech State College. Paul
received OSHA 10 & 30-Hour Certification.

SCOTT D. RICHARDSON
Supervisor of Traffic Signal Maintenance

Scott has been with MWE for over ten years, serving as traffic signal
maintenance and lighting maintenance supervisor. Scott focuses on tracking and
performing all preventative maintenance for the greater part of Northern Indiana.
He is also responsible for keeping the traffic technicians trained on current
maintenance and installation procedures, with weekly seminars geared directly at
signal operation theory and troubleshooting.

Scott holds a Traffic Signal Electrician & Technician, IMSA Level II Certificate
and Work Zone Safety-IMSA Certificate. He is currently a member of LU 1393.

Dean Balazs: Serves as Division Manager, Chief Estimator, Project Manager and Purchasing Agent of Midwestern Electric, Inc. in Indianapolis.  He has been in the electrical construction business for over 25 years and is a current member of LU 1393.

RYAN LEPPER
Assistant General Manager

Ryan has been with MWE for ten years serving in various capacities including
Apprentice Electrician, Journeyman Wireman, Traffic Signal Technician and
Project Manager. Ryan supervises all construction crews. He also supervises
municipal maintenance contracts.

He studied at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis in Business
Management and also holds a Traffic Signal Electrician & Technician, IMSA
Level II Certificate and Work Zone Safety-IMSA Certificate.

JEFFERY DEES
Engineer & Assistant Project Manager

As Assistant Project Manager, Jeff is responsible for managing construction
projects, through his ability to manage: risk, schedule, budget, & conflicts. Jeff
has over eight years of experience in the construction industry.

Jeff received a Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering Management

Technology from Purdue University. He is MICCS and OSHA-30 Hour
Certified.

JACOB EWING
Senior Project Manager, Infrastructure Division

As Senior Project Manager, Jake is responsible for managing all roadway lighting
and traffic signal installation projects. Jake has been working at Midwestern
Electric for more than eight years. Jake is a Journeyman Lineman and member
of LU 1393.

Jake received advanced training in Electronics as a member of the United States
Navy.
